Although a more humorous piece in style and depiction, the subject of this scenario is a very real sight within the tunnel of East Commonlands. Many players would have alternate characters that they "parked" in the economic hub of Norrath. Their sole purpose was to hold and transfer items, much like a digital storefront, but as a person. While no actual person could hold the amount of items or coin that one of these "mules" was carrying without some sort of physical structure, the feeling of a small shop, kiosk, or bagoda existed with each trade window.
Some would even stand and watch for key items that scrolled through the auction channel in the hopes of finding a gear upgrade, a specific item for a quest, materials for tradeskills, or even a gift for a friend. This is all in addition to other player interactions involving gear, alternate characters, information on how to find items, or assisting lower-level characters.
If the character was a Monk, then the safest bet to "park" was while lying on the ground using a skill called Feign Death. Exactly as the name suggests, this ability allows the player to pretend to be dead, thereby avoiding any enemies that might enter the area. While corpses would be commonplace near the entrance of the tunnel due to unsuccessful rescue attempts by lower-level characters needing help in the zone, occasionally, you would see someone who had feigned death for so long that you wondered if anyone was even behind the keyboard anymore.
In some ways, Feign Death became just another /sit command for the class.
