Every time I look at this painting I hear the opening lines to Soundgarden's "Burden in My Hand." I'd be more worried about unintentionally aging myself it I wasn't doing an entire project revolving around a 25-year-old game.
This was one of the first pieces I did after running into a few random folks at Kurn's Tower. To anyone who has gone through my other posts, you'll know that I am obsessed with the visual of Kurn's Tower. I've written about it at length in my others that feature it, but to put it simply: it's awesome and imposing. In my opinion, there are arguably no greater landmarks for a newbie zone in the entire game.
I'm not sure that I've ever really captured the real feel of that place in this entire project, but this was the first attempt. It's also a great look at the obvious love the designers and developers had for the Dark Elf race. Not only did they get the best-looking plate armor in the game, but they are one of the most versitile when it comes to playable classes, have incredible night vision, and the ability to Hide.
Verdant Interactive (original developers), your bias is showing.
